Book of the Month

I can vividly remember reading with my Mom and Dad every night before I went to sleep. The idea behind the book of the month is for you and your student to read a particular grade appropriate book together at home. By reading to your child you instill the concept of the importance of the written word and all the wonderful adventures you can have by reading in the young and growing minds of our students. Reading to and with your child also gives you a great oppourtunity to monitor how well your child is doing. Ask questions. Take turns. Listen, laugh, and enjoy each other.

Each month we will read a book at home and come together to discuss the characters, plot, setting, and feeling that have come from this book. This activity is purely a voluntary action on the behalf of your student to encourage the gift of reading.

You may find these books on line, at a local book shop, or at the library. If you need help finding or getting them please let me know and I'll be happy to help.

Follow these easy steps to a great Book Talk Experience:

 1. Please find this book at your local library or at your neighborhood book shop. 2. Read it with your familyand talk about what is happening in your story. 3.  Come in on the Book Talk day to discuss the book and to do a project.
