Book Review: Holes By Jake Brown The main character was Stanley Yelnats. Stanley stole old shoes he didn’t know were worth 5000 dollars and ended up at Camp Green Lake, where boys go to when they commit a crime. They have to dig a hole every day, exactly 5 inches wide and 5 inches tall. There was another boy nicknamed Zero in his groupwho Stanley was teaching to read and write. Zero was digging and accidentally hit Mr. Pendaski with a shovel. Zero ran off after hitting Mr. Pendaski because the guards pulled their guns on him. After he ran off, Stanley went after him and they had to live on raw onions. Eventually they went back to camp and two Lawyers and The Warden were arguing over if Stanley could go home. The lawyers said it was courts decision, so the Warden let Stanley go. I liked this book because it was funny that they had to dig a hole every day. In my opinion, it was an odd punishment. I thought Stanley was nice because he gave Zero something that he found while digging and Zero got a day off. Another reason I thought Stanley was nice was because he was the only one who cared about Zero when he ran off and helped him. In my opinion this was a really good book
Annabelle Chang Tournament of Books The Strange Case of Origami Yoda v.s. James and the Giant Peach Summarizer There was a boy named James who lived with his mean aunts. His aunts demanded him to work very hard. One day they found a peach and it can keep growing bigger and bigger! His aunts got a lot of money by letting people see the giant peach. One night, James met the insects inside the peach. He was surprised to find a grasshopper as big as a dog! They traveled together to the ocean and had a problem with sharks. They solved the problem by hooking the string from the silkworm on to the seagulls. Then they arrived at New York City and lived happily ever after! Opinions I think this book was awesome! I loved the adventure. I like James And The Giant Peach better, because I like the part when James meets the grasshopper, the spider, the ladybug, the silkworm, and the centipede - donʼt forget the earthworm. I like the insects in the book because they are much bigger than their usual sizes.
Origami Yoda is a story about a kid named Dwight that created the origami yoda. It was not the kind of yoda with instructions. He created his own origami yoda without instructions. Everybody would come up to origami yoda (that was actually Dwight) and ask him many questions. Every chapter of the book was a new kid telling a part of the story. The three main characters of the story were Dwight,Tommy and Origami Yoda. In the begining of the story, Dwight and Tommy weren´t friends yet, but after a little while, they started knowing better each other until they finally became friends and this was the part of the story I liked most. One day, a kid named Harvey made a 3d origami yoda and Harvey and Dwight had a duel of origami yodas and Dwight's origami yoda won. I liked this book and would recomended it for other kids because it is a funny story and in the end of the book, it teaches you how to make an origmi yoda.
The book is about a boy named James who had two selfish and cruel aunts. They beat him a lot.One day he met a man who had a beard. He welcomed James in.
James and his aunts discovered a peach. It was growing bigger and bigger, and soon it got bigger than an up stairs house. Thats all of that, but it was spreading newsand people were looking for all the facts of the BIG PEACH. James was furious of the peach.
My favorite character was the centipede with so many BOOTS.I like the centipede because he is funny and silly. He is funny and silly because he has so many BOOTS.
What is the book about? Clementine, the main character of the book is a third-grade student. She is funny, spunky, paying attention to details and kind to friends. She helped Margaret to cut her gluey hair and she had to go to the principal’s office and every time she made her imaginations and funny conversations there.
There are a lot of funny parts in this book that I like: In page 32 it says every time I see her (one of the old neighbors), she hands me a five-dollar bill and says, “Run to the store and get me some cheerios, dearie.” Or page 20: “Margaret’s room makes me feel itchy because it looks like a magazine picture, or Clementine is afraid of pointy things and boomerangs. I love the pictures of the book by Marla Frazee; because she is so creative and she added a lot of details to them. My favorite picture is on page 22 and 23. I really enjoyed reading this book. I didn’t like Margaret in this book, since she was always mean to Clementine, and every time she wanted Clementine to go to the Principal’s office to apologize. Star rating: I give 5 stars to this book, means it was excellent. I recommend reading this book to all adults and children, because it doesn’t make me bored, it was funny and Clementine’s feelings were so sweet. Review by: Adrina E. (Age 8)
My favorite part was when Tommy asked Sara to dance. But, Origami Yoda Helped him they had a battle if Dwights Origami Yoda wins or Harveys. I liked it because it was cool and pretty funny because they had weird faces. Also its the best book that i have read also the Mr. Good clean fun page was super funny and also the part where the monkey says Man, I wanted some of those @!~%* cheetos that part was funny . Some times I read to my dog and he loves it he falls asleep alot some times my dad falls asleep a had a connection to Dwight in one part he says i know karate and Origami yoda said me too. Mr.Snider has a shake spare head its super weird. Why would he have one it is weird because broke it too. Thats bad she got in trouble for a month it was super bad she couldn't go back into her classroom for in till its lunch. The weirdest one is where seven hamburgers are in a glass and you have to eat them whole. But some times says bad words its fine but its a really good book that why i wanted to read it first because at it looked cool and looked like star wars. I love star wars that is why i wanted to read it first.
